Angel Game

The Angels were in Seattle playing the Mariners last week. They were here for only two games. A Wednesday night game and Brother Bear had a game and then Thursday for a day game. So, I scheduled Brother his 11 year old check up (which included two shots) in the morning and then we headed off to the baseball game. Ssshhhh, don't tell his teacher. Gramma and Granddad came to the game too.

We brought our Subway sandwiches for lunch. It was a perfect day for a baseball game. Nice and sunny, the roof was open on the stadium.

Elmos Healthy Habits

We went to see Sesame Street Live: Elmos Healthy Habits the other day. That was Sister Bears birthday present from us. There was a morning show so we went while Brother was in school. She was so excited to go to the Tacoma Dome to see Elmo. She had her Elmo doll and a piece of Trident gum so she was set. It was fun to watch her take it all in.

Mothers Day 2011

Mothers Day this year was spent with Brother Bears baseball team. Every year the team goes to the AAA team that is nearby. All of the teams in the league get to go out onto the field in their uniform. This year it just happened to be on mothers day. A lot of the mothers did some grumbling because they didn't want to spend mothers day at a baseball. In our house that is usually what we've done. In California we would go to the Angel game and up here in Washington the Angels have played the Mariners on mothers day.
So, off we went. It was a sunny day and dry day. We have had a very unusually damp and dreary spring this year with temperatures 10-15 degrees below average. As part of our ticket we got a hot dog, chips and drink. The boys on the team had a good time hanging out and wandering around the stadium.
After the game we stopped at a Starbucks that we have frequented on mothers day. It was frappachino happy hour. So I had a frappe and the kids had the non coffee versions. Papa Bear wanted a coconut mocha. Its a new drink they have. I had a few tastes. Brother asked if that was going to be his new favorite drink. About 2 hours later we are getting ready to sit down to dinner. My stomach has been a little queasy. Papa isn't really eating his dinner and I ask if he feels ok. He feels the same way I do. Not to much later Papa and I are NOT feeling well. I am definitely doing better than he is though. The kids are both fine. We all ate the same food all day. The only difference was Papa Bears latte from Starbucks that I had a few drinks of. Needless to say, the coconut mocha is not going to be Papas new favorite drink.

Tea Party

Sister Bear turned four last month! Where has the time gone. It seems like just the other day we brought her home from the hospital and were sitting outside on the porch on a warm April day. We celebrated Sisters birthday with Gramma and Granddad coming over for dinner and birthday cake. Her choice of birthday dinner was hot dog and macaroni and cheese. Then the next day she had three little friends over for a tea party. One of the little girls told me it was the best birthday party ever!

Really I Am Going To Update More Often

Well, here I am with many many days or should I say weeks in between blog posts. Maybe we have just been so busy with exciting things going on that I haven't had time to write. Or maybe we have nothing going on in our house that would be of interest to you. Then again, maybe I have been too lazy to get on the computer to actually write something. My guess is probably the last one.

So what have we here in the Bear household been up to?

Papa Bear is busy at work fixing injured athletes, keeping them from getting injured and making sure the training room is running smoothly. He is also now the president of their state organization. Guess that makes us the first family. Haha. He is also busy coaching Brothers baseball team.

Brother Bear is busy being a fifth grader. Can't believe school is almost over and he will be in sixth grade. He is doing great in school. Right now he is starting work on a state project. Brother is going to do Pennsylvania. For his tourism booth he's going to hand our Hershey Kisses. As soon as indoor soccer was over with, baseball started up. Brother is enjoying playing catcher again this year. He has also started soccer practice. This year Brother is playing on a different team.

Sister Bear is just plain busy. She always wants to be doing something or talking about something. Her dance class is busy practicing for their recital. She loves story time at Borders Bookstore and at the library. She has gotten good at writing her letters and numbers and can count to 100 by 10's. Her favorite shows to watch are Super Why and Word World and she sings along with the songs.

I, Mama Bear, am just trying to keep everyone organized and running. I'll try to come back and add pictures later.

Science Project

Brother Bear had to do a science fair project for school this year. He came up with the idea all on his own. He did tennis shoes vs. cleats. Which one did you run faster in. One chilly afternoon in February we went over to Papa Bears office and a handful of football players came out to run for Brother. We were very proud of him. He did everything all by himself. At the science fair you could tell the parents who helped their kids with the display boards or even did the projects for them.

Princess Story Time

There are daffodil fields where we live. Sister loves daffodils. Usually every week in the spring we buy a bunch or two daffodils from the store. We have a Daffodil Parade in our town. We've never been, but I think this year might be different. There is a Daffodil Queen and her court. They wear big fancy yellow dresses, like Belle.

The library had story time with two of the Daffodil princesses. Sister Bear was all over that. She had to wear a dress and her own crown.

The princesses read some stories and then colored with the kids for awhile. It was such a nice day that we walked around downtown when story time was over.

Then we bought some daffodils and headed home.

Trip for Brother

Papa Bear had to go with the baseball team to California a little over a week ago. The team had an extra ticket so Brother Bear was able to go along and be the bat boy. He was pretty excited to go on a trip with dad. Plus, he got to miss two days of school. They got to spend a few hours before before dinner down in Huntington Beach. One night Granny and Grandpa came and took him and Papa Bear out to dinner after the baseball game. They came back on a Sunday evening. It was a very late night for poor Brother who had to go to school the next day. Their flight was late and then the team plus some other passengers, bags did not make the flight. We had to wait in line for quite some time for them to fill out the claim for the bags. Brother rolled into bed around 2am. He was fast asleep.

Sister Bears Haircut

I've been wanting to get Sister Bears haircut for quite some time. It was starting to look unhealthy on the ends. But it has taken so long to get where it is. I have trimmed the bottom myself twice. Luckily, she has wavy hair because I know it wasn't even. Finally, I got around to making an appointment with the same girl who cuts my hair. Sister did not want to get her haircut. For some reason she was nervous. Silly girl! I told her we could get ice cream after her haircut. Ice cream makes all things possible.
Sister hopped right up into the chair and was quite the chatter box while she had her haircut. Afterwards we walked down to Target to get some ice cream. As we walked she flipped her curled hair around as she walked.

Rainbow Cupcakes

A friend of mine made some really cool rainbow cupcakes. I thought I would try it and make them for Brothers class for St. Patricks Day. I did a trial run first just to see how they would turn out. Turns out the trial run was it.

Brother ended up going to California and missed school on St. Patricks Day. They were pretty easy to make, just time consuming. Sister Bear who loves rainbows thought they were pretty great.

I think I will do them again for Sister Bears birthday. Of course they will be topped with purple frosting.

Overdue Recap

I realized the other day it has been a long time since there have been any updates about what the Bear Family has been up to. So, I guess I will do a quick little update to get you up to date.

January
We celebrated birthdays for Papa and Brother Bear. For Papa Bear we celebrated his birthday early since he was out of town on the actual day. Funny little story about his cake. Papa has been telling everyone he was turning 27. I guess I had that stuck in my head because when I was putting candles on the cake I made a 27 with 38 (the actual age) candles. I didn't even notice it until I looked at the pictures later. Ha ha. Papa Bear was in Oregon with the basketball team for his birthday. He took Brother Bear with him on the trip and they both got to eat at my favorite restaurant. We celebrated Brother Bears birthday over at the university again this year. Eleven boys running around the gym for three hours playing floor hockey, indoor soccer and baseball and enjoying cupcakes and ice cream. The next day was a holiday so he had two friends spend the night. For his actual birthday we took cupcakes to school and had a family dinner with his favorite dinner. The month was also spent with Saturdays watching Brother Bear playing indoor soccer. Sister Bear and I have busy Wednesday mornings. We get Brother off to school and then we head out to dance class. After dance we head over to Borders for story time. Brother has early release on Wednesdays, so we usually head over to the university to spend the afternoon with Papa.

February
We celebrated my birthday in February. Papa Bear and I went out to dinner and then came home to a little surprise party with friends and family. One weekend we all went out of town with Papa Bear and the basketball team. Sister and I drove down to Oregon and met Papa and Brother down there. I got to eat at my favorite restaurant two days in a row!!! This month we had some crazy cold weather at the end of February. Snow and ice!! Luckily we didn't have to miss school. Just some late start mornings. Brother was busy doing his science fair project. He did a great job and did it all by himself. Papa and I were very proud of him. You could really tell the projects that the parents helped out on. Some nights when Papa has to work late, the kids and I will go over to eat dinner with my parents.

March
I'm trying to think what has been going on in March. Nothing much but it is already half over with. Brother has started up with baseball this month. Sister is busy just being an almost 4 year old. She loves anything princess and girlie and if it involves coloring that is even better. She has a great imagination. Papa Bear is in California right now with the baseball team and was able to take Brother Bear along with him. He is going to be the bat boy. He was pretty excited to miss two days of school and to go on a trip.

Well, I think that wraps up the the major activities in the Bear Household. I'll try to be better about keeping up to date.

Zoo Lights

We hit Zoo Lights up this year on the last night. Nice and bundled up for the 25 degree weather. Gramma and Granddad went with us this year. Evening must be when the sharks are active. When we usually go to the zoo during the daytime they are laying on the floor of the tank sleeping. But the sharks were swimming all over during Zoo Lights. Before we left the kids rode the merry-go-round
